Okehampton Ladies seconds 2

Plym Valley Ladies thirds 0

PLYM were a strong, physical side forcing the young Oke side to show grit and determination.

Good stick work and accurate, flowing passes were the key to Oke's victory especially from the left attack of Sophie Cunnington and Hannah Whiteley.  Despite good pressurising play in the first half Oke could not penetrate the Plym defence.

The second half saw Plym play with more aggression forcing left half Rachel Laidlaw to make some decisive tackles.

It was centre half Sarah Toms who set up the first goal with an accurate pass into the Plym circle.  This found Grace Thorpe in the perfect position to shoot at goal; the Plym keeper managed to save the initial  shot but centre forward Kim Davey pounced on the rebound and netted the ball.

Plym retaliated in style but strong tackling from Oke's Brieze Reed and tight marking from Nat Dennis thwarted their attempts.

After a period of attacking play, Oke were awarded a penalty corner which Davey made no mistake in converting into her second goal.

The strong defensive play of full back Sarah Jones was tested as Plym tried for a consolation goal. The visitors piled on the pressure forcing some athletic saves from Oke keeper Jo Moppett and a brave goal line clearance from Brieze Reed.

The young Okehampton team were relieved to hear the final whistle and thoroughly deserved their hard-earned win.
