Okehampton Argyle Seconds 2
Honiton Town 2
AFTER a dismal midweek defeat against lowly Chumleigh Okehampton faced a promoted Honiton who are still looking to finish in second spot.
On a hard and bumpy surface both sides played neat football but it was to be a game of two halves with the wind playing a major part. Okehampton won the toss and decided to play against the wind and slope. Honiton attacked from the whistle and had a fine effort hit the bar.
Okehampton played neat football and were competing all over the park but Honiton took the lead with a fine low drive from outside the box through a mass of legs from a corner.
Honiton?s wide play was excellent and from a superb left wing cross their striker headed home.
The second half saw the wind change the fortunes around and it was Okehampton who were to dominate. Tom Williams went on a surging run into the box and was brought down for a penalty but the normally reliable Chris Wills? kick was well wide of the goal.
Nick Pollard and Chris Drew started causing the Honiton defence problems and from a defence-splitting ball Pollard blasted into the roof of the net for Okehampton?s first, the visitors were looking shaky.
With Okehampton chasing the game more players were starting to get forward and when Ian Wilson went up for a corner and forced over the cross for the equaliser they were looking a different side.
