ST LUKE's Hospice is on the lookout for willing and enthusiastic volunteers in the Tavistock area to help in its newest charity shop that has just opened for business.

The St Luke's Hospice Reading Room at Paddons Row, Tavistock was opened on September 3 and has already attracted many customers to look at what books are on offer. It is the third St Luke's shop in Tavistock and is directly aimed at selling secondhand books.

Coleen McNaughtan, St Luke's area retail manager, said: 'Even after just a week, the outlook is really good for the Reading Room — there has been a lot of interest.

'We have a lot of fantastic support from the people of Tavistock but we are always looking for new volunteers to help us in our shops. Now that we have opened the new Reading Room, we need even more help in enabling us to keep our shops up and running.'

Anyone looking to improve their CV, is unemployed, retired or has some free time to spare would be welcome as a volunteer in one of St Luke's shops. If you are interested, go in and speak to manager Hannah Myatt or for other volunteering opportunities, call the charity's volunteer services co-ordinator Kate Barrett on 01752 401172.
