Isca 7s Hockey Tournament THIS was the first time that Okehampton Columbines had entered this tournament held at Exeter University and they knew it would be hard with seven players on a full size pitch. The first game showed the difficulties and Okehampton went down 2-0 to Teignmouth despite good work by goalie Carol Taylor. A draw 1-1 against Dartmouth in the second game did not really reflect the balance of play as Okehampton had several dangerous attacks on goal, Jo Moppett one on one with the goalie, and were unlucky not to score several times. A brief pause before the third game against White Eagles meant Claire Smith had the opportunity to go into goal where she made several excellent saves. Despite this White Eagles went one up but good teamwork created the equaliser. Jo Moppett made one of her breakthroughs and passed across to Caroline Friend who wrong-footed the goalie to score for Okehampton. The last game against Isca was expected to be Okehampton?s hardest but they were hitting their stride and won 2-0. This placed them second in the tournament, a pleasing result for them.
