OKEHAMPTON Columbines played their last hockey of the season at the annual Dawlish tournament.
The day started badly when traffic prevented some of the team from arriving in time and Okehampton lost their first match 2-0 to the eventual tournament winners, Teignmouth.
In the next game against the hosts, Dawlish, Okehampton fared better and played more cohesively.
Jo Moppet scored the only goal of the game. Although Columbines created many chances Debbie Pritchard, Carol Taylor and J Grant in defence had to play well to quash the Dawlish attack.
Against Totnes Okehampton had their best game. Good interplay between the three forwards led to Moppet scoring the first goal.
There was significant pressure on the Totnes goal and an Alex Collins cross gave Viv Weatherington the chance to slot in the second. A fine goal from Laura Dixon sealed the match 3-0.
Second place depended on the outcome of the final match between Paignton and Okehampton.
Indifferent play from the team put Paignton two ahead and it looked as if Okehampton would have to settle for third.
A fine solo effort from centre forward Kelly Cooper gave them hope, and Moppet?s third goal of the tournament secured the draw which gave Okehampton Columbines second place.
