AFTER voting for ideas to boost Tavistock Town Centre in stage one of the proposed Business Improvement District (BID) project, businesses are now being asked to vote again as the process moves into the second round.

Businesses and organisations voted for suggested projects to improve the town in round one of the process and the top voted projects from that round will now be voted for in round two.

The BID is being spearheaded by Tavistock's chamber of commerce. A BID is a partnership between local businesses and the local authority — businesses within the BID pay a levy for the five-year programme of projects which members have chosen to improve their trading environment. The money is collected by the local authority and put into a ring-fenced account to pay for the projects.

Round two of the voting is taking place from now until Friday, January 21.

The top voted projects from this round will be taken and looked at to check how viable they would be to implement within the expected BID levy fund.

These will then go into the business plan, which will be put before the business community in February.

The BID ballot is expected to take place in June.

Businesses and organisations can vote online at http://www.tavistockbid.co.uk">www.tavistockbid.co.uk or go into the Times office on Brook Street and fill in a paper voting form.
