St Agnes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1

TAVISTOCK played their first league match against St Agnes. The team struggled for players and could have done with a couple of reserves.

Laura Stapleton and Emma White worked tirelessly through midfield and White also pushed up forward to put the defence of St Agnes under more pressure.

The forwards were goal hungry and Louise Bott and Laura Armstrong scrapped around near the base line for every ball and never gave up when there was a chance.

It was then that Gasapar was able to secure the ball past the keeper to put Tavistock on the score cards.

A few times the team were nearly caught short as not all the Tavistock team were able to get back and chase the opposition. Gaspar scored her second goal from a short corner.

Tavistock were very much on the attack and Julia Firth was quick with her stick down for the rebound ball out from the keeper. This allowed Firth to put the score to 3-0 at half-time. The second half saw St Agnes score their only goal.

This week Tavistock are home at Bickleigh Barracks 12.30pm against United Services.

NUMEROUS first team players were unavailable for this training game which allowed Robynne Honey, Louise Bott, Julia Firth and Becky Hutton to really demonstrate their skill level.

The game opened with Tavistock on the defence. A short corner was awarded to the opposition from which they scored. Moments later, through a fault in the ?D? another short corner was awarded and Okehampton slotted another goal past the keeper.

The strong play of Boulle and Dunn resulted in the fact that Okehampton were never given another attack on the goal.

A good ball was fed in by Gaspar allowing Armstrong to slot it past the keeper.

Tavistock kept working hard and Robynne Honey fed some great shots into the ?D?. Gaspar and Armstrong were working hard up front and managed to find space when it seemed very busy in the ?D? with Armstrong scoring her second goal. Dunn and Boulle pushed up the pitch allowing Butler to get into the ?D? and score. Tavistock now took the lead 3-2. Okehampton, although finding space on the pitch were unable to secure the ball.

Gaspar finished the match with a goal again through good linking with Firth and Bott.

Liskeard . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0

TAVISTOCK had a disadvantage from the first whistle, due to having only 10 players. Liskeard had first push back and took possession in the first few minutes. Tavistock?s midfield of Chloe Bassett, Olivia Eadie and Sarah Guy kept the pressure on and excellent teamwork from Sarah Barratt and Louisa Frost let Robynne Honey slip the ball past Liskeard?s keeper to take the lead.

Tavistock battled on and the defence ensured the ball stayed out of the D, keeping the pressure off new goalkeeper Amy Petts.

Liskeard came out stronger in the second half, but Tavistock were making space and passing well which ensured Honey?s second goal.

Liskeard tried to level, but Tavistock?s defence kept the ball out of the goal, despite Liskeard gaining a short corner.

Another drive at goal and excellent teamwork throughout midfield and the forwards gave Barratt the chance to cross the ball to Honey to score her third.

Player of the match: Chloe Bassett.
