Devon & Exeter senior 3 Seaton Town 2 South Zeal Utd 1 WITH several players missing, manager Reg Wonnacott started with a re-arranged back four and this possibly caused a misunderstanding in the Zeal defence that allowed the home side to score a simple goal in the opening minute of the game. Undeterred by this setback, Zeal took control for the rest of the first half and should have turned round at least level as they hit the post twice, once from Jeremy Stephens and the other effort from Roger White and missed two or three other good opportunities. In the second half it was all Zeal, but chance after chance went begging as they pushed for the equaliser. The home side went two up with ten minutes to play when during one of their rare attacks a snap shot from the edge of the penalty area gave Adam Cann no chance in the Zeal goal. Zeal kept coming forward and it was no surprise when Darren Gilbert broke down the right and scored a great individual goal from an acute angle. With only a few minutes left Zeal pushed for the equaliser with even keeper Adam Cann coming up for corners , but the home side held on to secure the points. This week Uplowman at home, kick-off 2.15pm.
