WEST Devon residents with season tickets for the borough council's car parks will be getting the best value parking this Christmas.
In some cases, they will be paying just 70p per day so they can go Christmas shopping for as long as they like without having to worry about feeding the meter.
In April this year, the borough council cut the cost of its annual car park season tickets by up to 45% as part of efforts to make parking more affordable.
Since then, the council has sold more than 80 season tickets for its car parks in Tavistock, Okehampton, Hatherleigh and Chagford.
Cllr Robert Oxborough, the council's communities services committee chairman, said: 'This reduced cost parking is good for both residents and businesses. We hope season ticket holders will find them particularly useful in the run-up to Christmas when so many of us make extra shopping trips to our towns.
'I would encourage more people to think about getting a council car park season ticket as they are the best value option for people who need to park in or near our town centres regularly.'
Motorists are able to park in town centre borough council car parks from as little as £1.10 per day with an annual season ticket costing £400.
Season tickets for parking in borough council car parks on the outskirts of town are £195 a year — working out at less than 70p a day.
Rural car park season tickets are just £155 for the year.
