GORSE scrambling and climbing wall sessions can both help a Devon charity this weekend as Okehampton Youth Hostel holds a fund-raising activities day. The hostel, in Station Road, is offering a range of activities for all ages, including archery and ride and seek in addition to gorse scrambling and climbing on a specially designed wall. Each session lasts one hour so people can get a taste of the different activities. There is a small charge for all of the sessions, but prices include any special equipment required. All the sessions start from 10am, 11.30pm and 1pm this Saturday, September 16, except the ride and seek activities which will finish at 12.30pm. For all bookings and enquiries call Michelle on 01837 53916. Book early to avoid disappointment. The minimum age for all events is five. All proceeds from the day will go to the Cavitron Fund, a charity which aims to equip Derriford Hospital with the latest neurosurgical equipment. The fund recently passed the £10,000 mark. Other attractions during the day include a tombola, a variety of stalls, including craft and a car boot sale. For more information about stalls and cars please contact Edna on 01837 55915. Refreshments will be available in the cafe on site.
