Swift Paint South West supplementary Cup

Walkhampton 3

Horrabridge 2

ON a cold bright afternoon this semi-final had everything a local derby should be.  In the early stages Walkhampton were the more dominant but as time went on Horrabridge settled with both teams creating a few half chances.

In the 37th minute Graham Galway caused the Horrabridge goalkeeper to parry out a shot into the path of Gary Forster who made no mistake in slotting home from 10 yards to give Walkhampton a half time lead.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half Walkhampton should of increased this lead with efforts from Mark Gibbings and Steve Gibbings, after that Horrabridge took control of the second half and equalised in the 55th minute with a goal from Dom Beech to make the score 1-1.

Horrabridge took the lead in the 63rd minute and were then in full control of the game but 12 minutes later Walkhampton broke from defence and a through ball to Dave Gibbings who shot, and a deflection put it into the back of the net to make the score 2-2.

With the game going from end to end with three minutes remaining Walkhampton had a free kick just outside the box; up stepped Tom Scott to bend the ball around the wall and into the net making the final score 3-2 to Walkhampton to reach the South West final.

Full credit to both teams for putting on an entertaining game.
