YOUNG people in the Okehampton area will soon be able to get transport advice and solutions right on their doorstep.
West DEN?s Getting There project, which loans scooters to people aged 16 to 25, will soon be based at the Okehampton Directions Office once a fortnight.
The project will also be having an open day at Directions this Saturday (September 18) from 11am to 2pm, where people can meet staff, have a look at the scooters for loan, and talk about how the project may be able to help.
Getting There project?s assistant manager Wendy Mills-Hicks said: ?We are really pleased to be able to have a base in Okehampton which will make it easier for young people in the north of our district to access our service.
?Getting There currently has 30 scooters which we loan out for six months to young people who have genuine problems in getting to work.
?We are also able to help with subsidies towards driving lessons.
?Any young person who is having problems with transport can come along to the open day on Saturday or drop in to the Directions office in St James Street between 11am and 2pm on alternate Wednesdays starting on September 22nd.?
