TAVISTOCK College is celebrating after making it into a guide for Olympic athletes ahead of London 2012.
The college — in partnership with Okehampton College and Kelly College — is featured in the London 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp Guide which provides information on high-quality facilities for the world's top sporting stars.
Tavistock College principal Colin Eves said: 'I was delighted when I heard of our inclusion as it is in recognition of all the hard work by so many people over the last few years, the strength of the partnerships we formed, and a highlight for the whole community to look forward to in 2012.
'We could only be considered because of the new fitness suite, all-weather pitch and athletics facilities, and the commitment we had shown to partnership working.
'Should we secure a team to train here, West Devon really will have an "Olympic Summer".
'It would be a 2012 highlight for the local community to get to know "their" team and follow its progress in the main event.
'I sincerely hope we can build on the momentum this will create, resulting in wider participation in sport and more local athletes like Old Kelleian Heather Fell going on to Olympic success in the future.'
Inclusion in the guide means Tavistock College's brand new multi-million pound facilities for football, track and field athletics, badminton and table tennis are recommended to National Olympic and Paralympic Committees across the globe.
The college has recently benefitted from a wide range of equipment and amenities, including a six-lane athletics track, sports hall, gym and swimming pool which may soon be used by an Olympic team.
The games take place from July 27 to August 12, so athletes could be training in the town from the end of the summer term in 2012.
The college is pursuing links with a number of countries in Africa and South America but if anyone in the local community can help, Mr Eves would be pleased to hear from them.
He continued: 'Teams will be here for up to three weeks and there will be some overlap with the school term when Year 11 and 13 students have finished their exams.
'This means we will be able to accommodate the training requirements of the team, while hopefully taking the opportunity for students to work alongside them, learn and be inspired.
'It is a great chance to rally the local community to engage with Olympic ideals, lead a healthier lifestyle and aspire to fulfil its potential.
'It will raise our profile as a centre with outstanding facilities and high aspirations.
'There is a real benefit to the wider community. Hosting a team will boost local businesses — particularly the tourist trade which will accommodate athletes — by raising the profile of the town and attracting more visitors.'
