PUPILS at St Rumon's Infants School in Tavistock had an extra day added to their half term holiday last week, as a result of building work at the school.
Contractors are currently replacing the roof at the school — but parents were last Wednesday told the school would be closed a day earlier. It had already been planned to close on Friday as an inset day.
A spokesman for Devon County Council said: 'The wind on?Wednesday afternoon blew a lot of dust about which triggered the fire alarm and other disruption so the decision was taken to close the school a day early.
'The current plan is to increase the number of contractors to finish the main school building roof over half term, so that the disruption will be significantly reduced and the school can re-open as planned after half term.'
