Every key stage two pupil will be given the chance to run a half marathon over a 12 week period with the final 1.1 miles being run on the same day as the Tavy 13. After completion each participant will receive the Tavy 13 medal and t-shirt. There will also be certificates awarded, silver after five miles have been completed and gold after 10 miles.
Every participant will be given a running activity log book which will record the amount of miles run.
Each participating school will organise a weekly running group during term time from January until the end of March. Every week the distance run will be added to the personal total and the main challenge is to try and reach an overall total of 12 miles by the end of March.
On April 18 the final 1.2 miles are run and a half marathon has been completed!
It costs £4 to enter and entry forms can be picked up from all primary schools.
Mhairi McCall, the 5x30 community activator said: 'The Tavy 13 Primary Challenge is a programme designed to get primary school aged youngsters running for fun and fitness so come on and take up the challenge!
