SPONSORED by the Active Villages Project, Tavistock RFC hosted the finals of the West Devon Primary Schools Tag Rugby competition.

Teams from Okehampton, South Tawton, North Tawton, Lady Modiford's, Walkhampton, Bickleigh Down, Whtchurch and Meavy took part, competing for a place in the Devon Schools final.

Pool one had South Tawton Lions, North Tawton, Bickleigh Down and Lady Modiford's playing each other with The Lions and Lady Modiford's winning through in first and second place.

South Tawton Tigers, Okehampton, Whitchurch and Meavy contested Pool two with The Tigers and Okehampton taking the top two postions.

South Tawton Lions beat Okehampton by 8-6 tries in the first semi-final and went through to the final, playing against Lady Modiford's, who beat South Tawton Tigers by 6-3 tries in the second semi-final.

The Lions proved too strong for Lady Modiford's and ended up the deserved overall winners, winning all their games.

South Tawton will now represent West Devon at the county finals, held at Cullompton in June.

Thanks are due to Dan Luffman and Alice Upcott who refereed the games and The Active Villages Project who supplied the winners and runners up medals and a ball to every team who took part.
