THREE West Devon primary schools have received national accolades for their commitment to the arts. Princetown Primary School and St Andrew?s Primary School in Buckland Monachorum were presented with a silver Artsmark award, and Northlew and Ashbury Primary School was presented with an Artsmark award, at a ceremony at The Wharf in Tavistock earlier this month. Artsmark is a scheme managed by Arts Council England aimed to encourage schools to increase arts education. The Artsmark award recognises schools with a high level of provision in art, dance, drama and music. One of the Arts Council?s key priorities is to improve opportunities for young people and encourage their local communities to engage with the arts.
