PLANS to improve facilities at St Rumon's School in Tavistock have been lodged with Devon County Council. The school is seeking listed building consent to build a single storey extension to its existing Key Stage One classroom. The alterations include providing the children with their own toilets, a food preparation area, an art area, a computer room to teach ICT, and an erection of an external canopy to provide covered play area. Headteacher Clare Wesson said the school has been saving for a few years to give the pupils a suitable and a high standard place to learn. 'We want to create a fabulous early years foundation station for our youngest pupils aged four to five years. 'This is not an extension, we are just remodelling what we have already got. We are giving it a face lift. We are hoping for it to be up and built by September.' Planning consultation finishes on February 1.
