NEARLY 200 people descended on Bere Alston to be entertained by the popular Military Wives Choir for a fundraising concert.

The school PTA, known as the Friends of Bere Alston Primary, organised the event, which saw over 190 tickets sold to visitors from across West Devon.

During the concert, the school's own choir had the opportunity to sing with the Military Wives.

Some of the profits made on the evening were given to the Military Wives Choir for their nominated charity, and a further £1,700 was raised for the Friends of Bere Alston Primary School for school funds.

PTA member and part of the school's office team Maria Outram said: 'It was an amazing and really successful evening. A lot of people came along from the area as well as people connected to the school.'

The Friends expressed thanks to everyone who was involved in the event.
