A SMALL mountain of bags brimming with items destined for the Cancer Research shops was delivered to the Callington branch of Tesco by the children and staff at Delaware School recently.

Staff at the school said since Tesco opened in Callington, the store had 'bent head over heels' to support their own fundraising efforts, so they were delighted to back Tesco's Stand Up for Cancer collection.

On Stand Up for Cancer Day, Delaware School handed over 126 bags to Tesco Callington. Polly Tait of the Friends of Delaware group said: 'It was a good opportunity as a community school to support a company that has done so much to support our school events and to such a good cause.

'We are so pleased with the response from both parents, children and staff from the school as they were only given a couple of days to fill the bags supplied.'

Niki Curtis, Tesco community manager, said: 'I am so impressed at all the hard work the children have done, collecting an amazing 126 bags full of items to be sold for Cancer Research UK. Their enthusiasm to help us raise funds for the Stand Up To Cancer campaign has been tremendous.'
