PATRICK (Paddy) Savage has been appointed as the new headmaster at Mount House School.

He succeeds Jim Massey, who was head there for the last ten years. The Masseys are moving to Dorset, where Jim is taking up a senior appointment at Sherborne school.

Prior to joining Mount House, Paddy Savage enjoyed ten years as headmaster at two independent prep schools – Rookesbury School in Hampshire and most recently Norman Court School in Wiltshire.

Paddy, 46, is married to Suzie, and they have three children — Imogen, 15, Isabelle, 13, and Edward, ten.

Mr Savage said: 'It is a great honour to have been appointed the new headmaster of Mount House. Suzie and I are thrilled to be coming to Tavistock with the children, to take over leadership of the school from the Masseys, who have done such an excellent job.

'We want to maintain the many traditions and strengths of Mount House, while also bringing in new ideas and a renewed vision for the years ahead. As a family, with three children in tow, we can't wait to put roots down in this gem of a school.'

Gavin Dollard, chair of the governors at Mount House said: 'With his previous experience, Paddy Savage is extremely well-suited to his new role, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience mixed with enterprise and resourcefulness that bodes well for Mount House's future.'
