South West Peninsula League division one East
Okehampton Argyle 1
Teignmouth 0
ARGYLE put in a fine performance to take all three points against an in-form Teignmouth side who were several places above them in the table.
Chagford's promising young goalkeeper Saul Scarry made his Peninsula League debut for Okehampton and put in a faultless performance, deservedly winning the man of the match accolade.
Argyle dominated the first half hour of the match and Colin Marshall's skilful touches caused constant problems for the visitors' defence.
Even when midfield partner Ed Squire had to leave the field with an injury after 15 minutes, substitute Ben Harris ably deputised and with the tremendous work-rate of George Pitts and Stuart Entwhistle backing up Marshall, Okehampton continued to look the more likely to score and missed several good chances.
Teignmouth showed their class by coming back and dominating the next 15 minutes and Scarry kept Argyle level with a string of good saves.
Teignmouth came out after the break and pushed Argyle back, but Okehampton's defence held firm with Matt Mortimer and James Williams winning several important headers.
When Teignmouth did break through, Scarry was equal to everything thrown at him. On 71 minutes, Okehampton sealed the points when Colin Marshall charged down a defensive clearance and calmly carried the ball past the Teignmouth keeper before side-footing it into the net.
Alphington 2
Okehampton Argyle 3
LAST week Argyle put in a tremendous fighting performance to take all three points away to Alphington. Argyle came back from 1-0 down to level the game just before half-time when Stuart Entwhistle volleyed home Robbie Miller's cross from the edge of the box.
Having fallen behind again in the second half, Steve Kinsey put Argyle level with a tremendous 30 yard shot, and then with only five minutes remaining, substitute Darren Prouse fired home a spectacular goal from 25 yards to give Okehampton the win.
