MURDER scandal, seduction, a vengeful ghost and Mozart?s brilliant music make Don Giovanni the most thrilling of all classical operas.

Sterts Theatre Company?s unique production of Don Giovanni opened last night at the Upton Cross, Liskeard venue and is also being performed tonight.

Set in the 1950?s, the production takes any of the stuffiness out of opera with plenty of action and high comedy. The irresistibly charming Giovanni has seduced 1,003 women in Spain alone, but there is a price to pay for his scandalous life of wine, women and song, as he finds out at the dramatic ending of this brilliant piece of operatic theatre.

Following the hugely successful Magic Flute two years ago, this is the second opera by Sterts Theatre Company under the expert direction of Ewart Sturrock and musical director Jonathan Lewsey and promises an evening of beautiful music, laughter and passion.

Dates throughout the summer: June 12, July 24 and 25, Aug 13 and 18, Sept 2 (last night). Box office 01579 362382.
