CHAGFORD is to host its first music festival this Summer. 'Chagstock' will take place on July 14, with expected crowds of around 3,000. Organiser Simon Hall says he has now secured The Saw Doctors as the headline act for the festival, while singer-song-writer Martha Tilson (daughter of folk legend Steve Tilson) is also lined up for the event, along with South African guitarist Guy Buttery and local band Obedient Bone. The event will take place on three ten-acre fields between Chagford and Whiddon Down, and free camping will be available on the site on the evenings of July 13 and 14. As well as live music, there will be children's entertainment and a beer tent sponsored by St Austell. Money raised by the festival will be shared between a number of local and national charities, including Devon Air Ambulance, Water Aid and the Chagford Youth Project. Mr Hall is now looking for further sponsors of the event. There are sponsorship opportunities ranging from £150 to £10,000,' he said. 'For a £150 sponsorship, you get two free tickets and a line-mention in the programme; for £500 you'd get four tickets and a banner advertisement on the programme and website, and so on.' He is also looking for people interested in having a stall at the festival to sell jewellery, crafts, or food.
