Exeter Saracens Colts 20

Okehampton Colts 88

FROM the kick-off, Saracens were under pressure and from a penalty at the breakdown, Kev Dennis slotted a kick for the openers after only a couple of minutes.

The home side responded immediately using their large pack to good effect with a pick and drive approach and close attack runners. Using possession well with the two props in particular running well , they muscled their way over for the opening try.

From the restart the Okes started to use the wide pitch to good effect and with Rickerby and Taylor making useful breaks in midfield the ball was moved wide to Callum Ausden to race half the length of the pitch for the first of his first half hat-trick.

Despite making a hash of several restart catches, the Okes maintained their expansive approach and with the backs running hard and with confidence the tries continued to flow with further first half scores from Jamie Stevens, Darcy Heard, Will Hawking and Kev Dennis.

To Saracens' credit they persisted with their forward orientated approach and just before half time they were rewarded with a second try from a pick and drive passage of play.

The second half continued in similar vain with the Okes moving ball through hand impressively to create regular scoring opportunities. The try of the match saw Dennis and Rickerby combine excellently in midfield with the latter offloading to perfection to put Dennis clear.

A fine solo effort from scrum half Jordan Lee scoring from a clean break from a scrum and some excellent support play from numerous players saw Harvey Ratcliffe capping the move off to keep the score board ticking over.
