CHILDREN’s charity CHICKS brought its annual Santa Fun Run to Tavistock on Sunday (December 1), raising nearly £4,000 to enable more vulnerable children from Devon and across the UK to attend a free, week-long respite break.

This year’s run, suppoted by Tavistock Rotary Club, saw more than 250 individuals, families and dogs complete the run, which started and finished in the Meadows.

At the time of publication, the run had raised £3,916 from registration fees, sponsorship and sales of Christmas cards and raffle tickets, with the figure expected to rise as sponsorship is paid in by participants in the coming days. This amount will enable more vulnerable young people to attend respite breaks at CHICKS’ retreats.

The festive fun continues on Saturday (December 7) with the charity’s second Santa Run in Callington, starting from Callington Cricket Club at 10am.
