CHAGFORD Book Shop is hoping to bring more celebrity writers to the area following the popularity of an evening at the Mill End Hotel last week which featured author, comedienne and presenter Sandi Toksvig.

Sandi read from her latest book ?The Travels of Lady Bulldog Burton?, which is illustrated by Dartmoor artist Sandy Nightingale, and signed copies.

Lyn Jones, of Chagford Book Shop, said the evening was overwhelmingly received with more than 100 people attending.

?The turnout was wonderful and Sandi was immensely funny,? she said. ?Obviously, the local link with Sandy Nightingale helped in getting her here but she was delighted to come and we hope to run more events like this at the Mill End Hotel in the future. Watch this space.?

The evening was followed by a dinner at the hotel restaurant.
