Express Cup

Bickleigh 1

Okehampton Argyle Seconds 4

ON a pitch resembling a swamp Okehampton progressed through to the next round with a confident performance.

Bickleigh set out their stall quickly with some over aggressive tackling which saw the referee send off their young full back for kicking out at Daniel Johnstone; keeper Neil Clift covered his angles well with the home side's early efforts.

Mark Burdus was pulled back in the box and Jason Sandford fired an unstoppable penalty.

Okehampton then brought out several fine saves from the home keeper who was the busier of the two. Tom Reilly dominated all the aerial battles and Steve Ausden and Ian Wilson marshalled the back four.

The second half saw Okehampton dominate and they increased their lead from Jason Sandford who fired home on his second attempt after brave defending.

Bickleigh heads dropped and Okehampton were rampant. From a pinpoint Johnstone cross Sandford headed in superbly at the top post for a fine hat-trick.

Lloyd Chapman and Ian Reddington both controlled the midfield with superb fitness and Reddington scored Okehampton's fourth with a powerful run.

Okehampton blotted their copybook allowing Bickleigh to score a consolation goal.

This Saturday away to South Zeal, Geary Cup, 2pm kick-off.
