THE Lambs went into this game expecting to run up a high score against the bottom club in the league. They paraded their new shirts sponsored by Doug Bennett 'Chainsaw' and Garden Machinery and the word 'massacre' was on the cards.
That looked likely as they took a first-minute lead when from a James Cole corner Lee Doncaster's overhead kick found the inside of the net.
It was just the start they needed but it was another 20 minutes before they increased their lead. John Gosling and Lee Beer combined well down the flank for the latter to cross low from the by-line and give Doncaster the simple job of a tap-in.
Doncaster had the perfect chance five minutes before the interval to get his hat-trick. But after being put through then beating the keeper he shot wide of an empty net.
Steve Daymond saw a shot cleared at the start of the second half and the home side then forced their first corner followed two more in quick succession and that was the only threat they gave to the Lambs defence. From the third one the Lambs almost added to their score with a quick break out of defence involving Cole, Smith and Doncaster, the latter shooting just wide.
Daymond had two more efforts, the first wide and the second blocked by keeper Brown. With 20 minutes remaining the Lambs finally got their third when Brown's clearance found defender Steve Shaw to drop the ball off to Wall whose pass over the defence let in Gosling to chip the keeper from the edge of the area.
Doncaster again forced Brown to concede a corner and from it the Lambs got their fourth as Cole's inswinging corner was headed into his own net by Ryan Trudgian.
Another good all round display from the Lambs. The only downside was the lack of a couple more goals to show their true dominance but it was their eighth clean sheet of the season, their sixth consecutive one and it keeps them level with St Blazey on 22 points.
