HIGH intensity flashing lights have been installed in Whitchurch Road in an attempt to warn drivers to slow down in the area around the village primary school.
The lights will flash at the beginning and end of the school day, urging drivers to reduce their speed to 20mph.
The high-visibility 20mph speed limit signs and lights are a continuation of the changes introduced at each end of the road in an attempt to reduce traffic volume.
'This work is in line with current national policy of reducing vehicle speeds where possible outside schools, and also supports the new national campaign asking drivers to "Think" about road safety.'
A 'gateway' has been constructed at the Tavistock end of Whitchurch Road, where the carriageway has been narrowed and coloured red to encourage car drivers to use the main A386 to Plymouth.
