FREE checks on child car seats are being offered in Tavistock next week — part of a Devon County Council campaign to improve safety for children.
The council has introduced several initiatives during the last five years to encourage carers to ensure that children's car seats are properly fitted.
The latest safety push is a series of free checks being held at supermarkets throughout the county during the next fortnight. Checks will be carried out at Safeway in Tavistock on Wednesday November 12, between 10am and 3pm.
Statistics have shown that around 90% of car seats are incorrectly fitted and likely to prove dangerously ineffective in the event of a crash.
