Calstock v Ordulph

CALSTOCK started at a good pace with Ryder (19) and Wright (24) putting on 50 in the first 10 overs.

The partnership was broken when Ryder was trapped leg before by Folley and soon after Wright was run out by some sharp fielding by Bellamy and keeper Crowl. For a period of the game it looked like the Ordulph were taking control, with further wickets for Lethbridge (2 for 57 off 11) and Folley (2 for 26 off 12) keeping the Calstock run rate down to a moderate pace.

The Calstock middle order picked up the run rate again led by Connibeer (33) and backed up by good knocks from Davies (28) and Craddick (17). Further wickets fell to Smith (2 for 24) and Bellamy (1 for 7 off 3) which helped to stem the flow of runs from Calstock and kept the total down to 177 for 8.

The Ordulph felt the Calstock score was reachable but did not allow for an excellent spell of bowling from the Calstock attack of Wright and Rundel. Wright removed most of the Ordulph openers and middle order with only Rotton (14) and Lethbridge (19) putting up any meaningful resistance.

Rundel (1 for 27 off 12) supported Wright well with an excellent tight spell of seam bowling picking up a wicket in the process. A brief flurry of runs from Coad (12) was too little too late as Wright, now returning to the attack with Ryder (2 for 22), finished off the Ordulph tail. Wright finished with 6 for 13 off 8 and wrapped up the Ordulph innings 80 all out.

This week Ordulph entertain Buckland at Kelly College.
