Stannary Hash House Harriers (SH3) celebrated Lord Nelson's famous naval victory at Trafalgar with an evening run in and around Buckland Monachorum. After the run members carried on the festivities for a tot at the Drake Manor Inn. The naval theme saw many Hashers wearing seafaring costume in the spirit of the occasion — with Hashers coming on board with eye patches, pirate gear, a few cutlasses, seaman's jackets and even a pair of flippers. A glass of rum was used in a traditional toast to Lord Nelson announced by one of the 'crew' who is currently serving in the Royal Navy. Chris Eastaugh, a spokesperson for the Harriers, thanked all concerned and especially the Drake Manor Inn for their hospitality. The following week SH3 held their annual quiz at the Prince of Wales at Princetown, which had a Hallowe'en theme. Hashing is a pastime which involves meeting on a Monday night, going for a run, usually across the moor and then on to one of the local inns. The runs are laid so that whatever your pace you should be back at the start in an hour. It's a great way to meet new friends, see some of the moor and socialise on a Monday night. There are two Hashers based in Tavistock, SH3 and TVH3. For more information its website http://www.stannary.com">www.stannary.com #
