LAST Sunday, in temperatures of 28 degrees, Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) and Tavistock Athletic Club members took part in the both the Cricklade 10km and the Cricklade Half Marathon in Wiltshire.

Both races started and finished in the same place with the 10km route diverting away from the half marathon at the 3.5 mile mark. 

First lady and man home for the half marathon for Bats was Derek Hicks and Dotty Allan and for Tavistock, Tony Shearer and Vicki Lloyd.  Making their debut races for the Bats were Katherine Law and Phil King who were both first home for the 10km and Adey Pitcher who was running his first half.

n The ladies only Saturday track session (Dottys Birds) has made it through to the final stages of the New Balance competition 'Running Group of the Year 2011' which is being hosted by Women's Running magazine.

The competition is looking for the best women's running group in Britain and are looking as to why the group was set up, how the group is kept motivated and why the group thinks they should win.  Dotty's Birds feature in the November edition of the magazine with the results known later in the year. 

All of the ladies are keeping their fingers crossed and would love to win one of the prizes however, they are delighted to have got so far in the competition.
