PROPERTY agents Mansbridge and Balment said they were more than happy to go the distant with their support for the first ever Tavistock Half Marathon. Around 600 runners, who each ran in a 'Tavy 13' shirt supplied by the company, helped raise £7,000 towards the new athletics track at Tavistock College. Other charities also benefit from sponsorship to individual runners.
M and B's Martin Gibbs managing director, said: 'Support for our local communities lies right at the heart of the ethos of this firm. Mansbridge and Balment sponsor not only this event but others including the Tavy 7. The Tavistock community is very important to us and we recognise that without doing things like this, we cannot claim to be the "real deal," a vital part of that community. On a personal level we very much enjoy playing such a central role in this, our home town.'
Staff from M and B gave their support on the day including director Nick Henderson, his wife Karen, branch manager Andrew Kirby and his wife Sue.
Race organiser Claire Pitcher said that 'without the sponsorship of Mansbridge and Balment there would have been a lot less money raised!'
