THE Dartmoor Discovery Ultra Marathon proved a popular draws as ever on Saturday when competitors from far and wide took part in this now well established annual event.
The 32 mile ultra marathon, sponsored by St Austell Brewery, is the only true road, one lap ultra marathon left in England. Starting and finishing in Princetown it is, say the organisers, the most scenic and toughest, with over 4,000 feet of ascents and descents, held entirely within the Dartmoor National Park.
The presentations for individuals and teams were made by Ian Thompson, the 1974 European and Commonwealth marathon champion.
