EIGHTEEN-year-old Georgina Geikie from Addiscott achieved a long-standing ambition recently when she was among the thousands of runners completing in the London Marathon.

Sense, the charity that helps deaf and blind children was benefitting from the sponsorship Georgina raised.

Last year, with her A-levels behind her, Georgina had been determined to support the charity and during the winter months followed a strenuous training programme that convinced her she could aim to complete the marathon course in around four hours.

When Georgina crossed the finishing line, recording four hours and two minutes, her persistence was rewarded.

?The rain helped keep me cool,? Georgina said, and she felt it was easy going until she reached Tower Bridge.

?I was hurting a bit, but once over the bridge I found the extra energy to finish.? she said.

Like most of the Red Team runners taking part to help charities, Georgina is still collecting for her chosen charity. Contributions to the charity will be very welcome and anyone who would like to donate to the fund and swell the final amount Georgina hands over can contact her by calling 01647 231433.
