TAVISTOCK's marathon-running world record holder is going for a different record-breaking challenge this month — skydiving.
Adam Holland, 25, the youngest man in the world to have run 100 marathons, will be taking to the skies above Dunkeswell Airfield in North Devon as part of a charity challenge for St Luke's Hospice.
The hospice is hoping to set a new UK record for the most amount of people jumping from the plane in one day — they are targeting more than 160 jumpers for the event on August 20.
Adam said: 'I've been in an aeroplane before so I know what it's like taking off, although this is obviously a much smaller plane. Actually, just stepping out of it is going to be the hardest bit, but what I am really looking forward to is seeing the views.
'You can probably see the whole coast from up there, and because I've run so much of it, I'd love to see it from the air — I can already imagine it.'
Adam is taking part in the skydive with several friends he made in the recent Face of Plymouth modelling event, in which he was a finalist — Jim Green, Amy Miles, Jade Diebelius and Lorna Norris.
The intrepid foursome are hoping to raise at least £400 each for St Luke's.
Anyone who would like to make a donation for the challenge can see Adam in Pillar's Newsagents in Tavistock or call him on 07795 250902.
