TWO of the Courtenay Players' funniest men join forces on stage for the first time in a performance of Ray Cooney's farce 'Run for your Wife'.

Perry Vallance who wowed audiences as the Dame in the club's last pantomime plays the leading role of John Smith and Roger Partridge, who has been playing comedy roles for the past thirty years, plays 'helpful' tenant Stanley.

Ray Cooney's much-acclaimed comedy follows the fortunes of Smith, a London cabbie with his own taxi, a wife in Streatham, a wife in Wimbledon — and a knife edge schedule. For three years, John Smith has been a successful, if tired, bigamist, but one day, gallantly intervening in a mugging, he is taken to hospital with mild concussion.

In the ensuring complications, aided by Stanley, John tries bravely to cope with a succession of well meaning but prying policemen, the press, two increasingly irate wives and a gay neighbour.

Sandra Ausden and Rebecca Simmons play the wives, Dave Chapman and John Davey the policemen, Lita Meardon as the reporter and Stanley Stormont as the neighbour make up the rest of the cast.

'Run for your Wife' will be performed at the Octagon Theatre, Okehampton College, on October 29, 30, 31, at 7.30 each evening. Tickets to include refreshments are available from the Fairplace 50/50 shop in the Arcade, Okehampton or on the door.
