The Webber family and Chagford Runners have announced that charity running event Run 4 Rosie will go ahead this year in March.

They are challenging runners and walkers in a 24 hour event to complete a five-kilometre, ten-kilometre or ten mile course to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation which provides support to lung cancer patients and their families and funds ground breaking research. The event is in memory of Rosie Webber, a well-known figure in Chagford who died of lung cancer in 2018.

Registration for this year’s event will open at 8am on March 19 to March 20 at the clubhouse in Chagford and the event will start properly at 9am.

The event will also include mini marathons for children, music, entertainment, food and a licenced bar during the day.

An open-mic session and a curry/chilli dinner is planned for the evening.

This will be the fourth Run 4 Rosie challenge and the first ‘live’ event in two years as a result of the pandemic, although runners could participate in a virtual challenge last year.

Since it started, Run 4 Rosie has raised over £30,000 for the charity.

Beth and Kate Webber launched the event in March 2019 following the death of their mum, Rosie, who died from lung cancer in September 2018 ten weeks after her diagnosis.
