ALL the money raised from this summer?s half-marathon Ruby Run from Holsworthy to Hatherleigh has now been donated, with cancer charity CLIC benefitting to the tune of £1,400.

Hatherleigh and Holsworthy Day Centres also received a third each of the £4,200 raised.

The event in June, now in its second year, attracted 250 runners and walkers and is organised by Holsworthy and Hatherleigh Town Councils in conjunction with the Ruby Country Initiative, which promotes the best of the area, including the environment, its food and restaurants.

Hatherleigh town councillor Denis Bater said the run was becoming very popular and next year he hoped more walkers would take part.

?Walkers also raise a lot of money and part of our aim is to promote healthy living in terms of exercise and good food,? he said.

The organisers are grateful to sponsors South West Water, Lamisell Beams and West Devon Meat.
