THE previous Sunday the Ruby run half marathon took place from Holsworthy to Hatherleigh.

The first man home was four times winner Peter Hockin and first woman Jo Meek.

The event was described by one competitor as 'challenging but really enjoyable'.

The proceeds are to be distributed between the Devon air ambulance and the Ruby Country project.

The main sponsor this year was Sid Lew of Lamisell Beams. Next year the Ruby run starts at Hatherleigh and finishes in Holsworthy.
