A PAIR of Torridge district councillors have received a royal reply to a letter they sent recently.
Councillors Jane Whittaker and Barry Parsons have received a response from Kensington Palace after writing to Prince Harry urging him to consider using Torridge to help host the Warrior Games, should he be successful in bringing them to the UK.
The letter, from Edward Lane Fox, private secretary to HRH Prince Henry of Wales, thanks both councillors and said: 'His Royal Highness was very grateful for your kind offer to host the games in the Torridge district and has asked me to forward your letter on to his charitable foundation and they will be in touch in due course.'
Cllr Whittaker said: 'I'm pleased with the response and am looking forward to hearing from the foundation. Torridge has so much to offer, it's time we were really on the map.'
Cllr Parsons said: 'We've done our best to open the dialogue. I know Torridge is more than able to deliver events of the calibre of the Warrior Games and why shouldn't we have the opportunity to do so?'
The fourth annual Warrior Games was held in the USA last year. It is a competition for service members and veterans held over six days with five US teams and the British Armed Forces team.
