AN antique with Royal connections goes under the hammer at an auction to be held in Tavistock next month.

The 17th century Chinese porcelain bowl is one in a long line of royal ?finds? which has passed through Robin Fenner?s salesroom at Stannary Gallery.

There was a hand-written epitaph from Queen Victoria to John Brown, cabinet photographs of King Edward and Queen Alexandra and their daughters, prescriptions by Royal doctors and Queen Victoria?s nightgown.

The porcelain bowl comes with a hand-written card, saying: ?This bowl, out of which King James II drank a draught of milk. December 1688.?

A spokesperson for Stannary Gallery said the bowl was being sold by a local family which had owned it since the 18th century. It is expected to realise between £800 and £1,200 when it is sold at the fine antiques, art and collectables auction on December 8.
