But they wished they had not as Bere played with fire and passion. They out-tackled, passed and chased Tavistock,with Ben Rushall?s speed paramount in Bere?s defence. All through the first half both teams probed away with both defences on top. The second half saw Bere go up several gears. Will Westlake raced onto a through ball, beating the Tavistock keeper to the ball and taking his time to roll home Bere?s first. This stunned Tavistock into pushing Bere onto the back foot and Ben Rushall?s speed saved the day on many occasions. Tavistock?s ten minute spell ended when Ben Stephens cleared off the line. Steve Daymond tore Tavistock apart, racing clear to score Bere?s second. As Bere now broke free at will Rob Hawkins? centre saw Steve Daymond completely unmarked to head home. Steve now showed his ability by chasing a Tavistock defender who should have cleared, putting in a brilliant tackle to rob him and race forward to score his third.
