DISTRICT governor John Burditt visited Hatherleigh Rotary Club last week, giving an account of his attendance at the International Assembly at Anaheim, Los Angeles.
Mr Burditt said he was impressed by the different styles of Rotary International he saw. During the assembly UN Secretary General Kofi Annan paid tribute to Rotary for introducing and carrying through the world Polio Eradication Scheme.
?Rotary Africa Hope? and ?Lifesavers: First Responders? are the preferred charities of this year?s president of Rotary in Britain and Ireland.
Mr Burditt said he was also anxious that the work of Macmillan Nurses should be supported and he congratulated the Hatherleigh group on its community and fundraising efforts.
This is the centenary year of Rotary International and there will be a civic thanksgiving service in Exeter Cathedral. The Hatherleigh club is celebrating its tenth anniversary and welcomes visitors to join them at the Bridge Inn at 7.30pm on Mondays.
