OKEHAMPTON?S young technologists were extolled at the recent Rotary Club of Okehampton lunch. Rotary annually sponsors the Okehampton College young technologist awards, and this year?s winners attended the recent lunch to collect their cheques and certificates. The awards are made in five areas: electronics, resistant materials, graphic products, textiles and product design, which are all part of GCSE coursework. The judges had a difficult task to select the best due to the variety and high standard of work and the presentation and evidence in the design folders was impressive. Pictured from left to right with their award certificates are Ava Orbiston, who won in the textile category; James Kelly, who won for an electronic game; John Bishop, CAD/CAM technology teacher; Jessica Squire, holding the cup for CAD/CAM prize for her educational clock; Chris Henderson, head of technology and Kate Yell, resistant material winner.
