A TAVISTOCK organisation is giving golfers in the area the opportunity to enjoy a great day of sport ? and raise money for a good cause this spring.

Tavistock Rotary Club organises a golf day every two years to support local charities. This year, the event will be held on May 26 ? and the nominated charity will be Tavistock-based Youthwize.

A spokesman for the club said: ?This charity supports young people in West Devon, aged between 13-25, who face many problems, and gives advice, information and counselling on drugs and alcohol, unemployment and housing.

?David Incoll, chairman of Tavistock Rotary, was so convinced of the need to help youngsters in the area he decided all the funds from this year?s golf day should support Youthwize.?

Two companies have agreed to act as major sponsors for the event ? Volvo dealers Riders of Plymouth and Tavistock accountants Frances Clark.

A number of other companies in the area will be sponsoring prizes to ensure the day will be a success, both in supporting Youthwize and ensuring a great day for the competitors.

Teams of three are invited to enter the event, at a cost of £25 per person. The entry fee will include a round of golf, a meal on completion and a wide range of prizes.
