TAVISTOCK Rotary Club held its ladies five mile race and junior fun run on Sunday.
Cool cloudy weather gave this year's entrants ideal running conditions. The Mayor of West Devon, Councillor John Hockridge sounded the start at the council offices end of the viaduct at 10am.
The race then continued across the viaduct, along the old railway track to Crease Lane and then out to Mill Hill quarry and back again, a distance of just under five miles.
First home was Julia Towers in 34.01 minutes, second was Nicole Heryet in 34.30 and third was Sally Cole 36mins 25secs.
At 10.10am the Junior Fun Run, from the council offices end of the viaduct, along the track to Crease Lane and back again, was started by Tavistock Rotary Club president, Geri Parlby, who also presented the trophies to the first three ladies home.
Tavistock Rotary Club would like to thank Tavistock Athletics Club and West Devon Borough Council for their support for this event. All monies raised will be donated to local charities.
