FIREFIGHTERS in West Devon will be using water to raise money for charity instead of putting out fires this Saturday, October 2.
They will be taking part in the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund?s national charity car wash day, raising money for the charity, which supports UK Fire Service personnel.
Tavistock firefighters will be offering their car wash services at Safeway car park in the town from 10am to 4pm and members of the Yelverton crew will be providing the service at St Paul?s Church car park from 10.30am. In Princetown members of the public will be able to get their cars washed at the fire station between 10am and 2pm and in Bere Alston the fire station will be open for people to have a look at while their cars are washed between 10am and 4pm.
The fundraising will contribute towards the fund?s £2.5 million therapy centre appeal ? The Phoenix Appeal. The centre is aimed at enhancing the lives of service personnel and their families who are in need of therapy and rehabilitation services following injury, surgery or stress.
